Take valuable data from the quickly dissappearing ice field, to determine its rate of melt. The walk down to the valley floor, keeping a sharp eye out for any wildlife. If we see some native birds we will record that data also. Along the way we will stop at a number of flora photo monitoring points to take a photo to add to the on going monitoring of our native alpine plants. Finally reach the valley floor and enjoy an excellent lunch before flying back out into civilisation.

Fitness level required: Moderate Duration: Full day The Rob Roy Valley is reputed to be one of the most beautiful walks in the world. Located just out of Lake Wanaka Township in the Mount Aspiring National PArk World Heritage Area, you will wander through lush primordial forest and sneak views through the towering trees of the alpine splendor that surrounds you. Suddenly you will break through the forest and be confronted with the enormous south face of Rob Roy Glacier. You can admire this massive glaciated mountain face from the safety of lush alpine grasses surrounded by the unique native cheeky alpine parrots called Keas.
If you are lucky (and most are) you will witness giant blocks of ice fall from hundreds of metres up to explode on the rocks at the bottom of the face.
